A backup baby monitor for when you need one.
Use two devices you already have. Hear your baby from anywhere in your home, get an alert when they cry, and know right away if anything stops working.
We don’t record.We don’t store.We don’t listen.
Your key. Only yours. Everything between your devices is encrypted with a key that is made on the baby’s device and shared only with the devices you pair. We never have it, so we couldn’t listen even if we wanted to.
Sound and video go straight from one of your devices to the other. They never pass through a server of ours, and nothing is saved anywhere.
Simple
Give each device a role and scan one code. After that it connects by itself, every time.
Reliable
It tells you when something stops. A lost connection, a stopped microphone or a low battery each sound an alarm.
Private
Sound and video go straight between your devices. They never reach our servers. No account, no analytics, no ads.
Secure
Everything is encrypted with a key that only your paired devices hold.
Three steps. You only do them once.
- 01
Put one device with the baby.
Open BabyBackup and choose “With the baby.” Plug the device in and leave the app open. The screen goes dark on its own so it never lights the room.
- 02
Pair your device.
On your device choose “With me” and scan the code shown on the baby’s device. A second parent can join with an invitation link. If scanning isn’t possible, a one-time number works instead.
- 03
Listen.
You hear the room live, even with the screen off. If the baby cries, an alarm sounds until you acknowledge it. Hold a button to talk. Tap Watch to add video on home Wi-Fi.
Works where there’s no Wi-Fi or signal.
BabyBackup doesn’t need Wi-Fi, cell service or the internet. Your two devices connect directly to each other, so a spare monitor goes wherever you go.
- Traveling
- A hotel room, a rental or a grandparent’s guest room. Pack nothing extra.
- Off the grid
- Cabins, campsites, boats and RVs. No Wi-Fi and no cell signal needed.
- When the power goes out
- If the Wi-Fi at home goes down, it keeps listening.
- Video
- Video needs both devices on the same Wi-Fi. Sound, talk and alerts don’t.
Keep the two devices reasonably close. Walls and distance affect how far they reach.
Everything you need from a backup. Nothing else.
- Live sound
- Continuous, with the screen off or the phone locked.
- Cry alert
- Tells you when your baby cries. It works without internet.
- Talk
- Hold a button to speak to your baby through the baby’s device.
- Listen or Watch
- Two round buttons. Listen for sound only, or Watch to add video on your home Wi-Fi. Flip between the front and back camera.
- Night view
- In a dim room the picture brightens by itself. In total darkness a small nightlight helps, and BabyBackup tells you when the room is too dark to see.
- Photo
- Tap to save a still of your baby to your own Photos. Nothing is saved unless you tap.
- Up to four listeners
- You, a partner, grandparents or a sitter can all listen at the same time. Each device has its own alarm.
- No internet needed
- Works on your home Wi-Fi, and keeps working when there isn’t any, at home, traveling or off the grid.
- In the room
- One tap mutes the sound on your phone while you are with the baby, so there is no echo. Alerts stay on, and the sound comes back by itself.
- Need a hand?
- Ask another listener to come in with one tap, quietly. They get a ding and a notification, and tap On my way when they are coming.
- Battery
- Shows the baby’s device battery on yours and warns you when it runs low.
It tells you when it stops working.
A monitor that fails quietly is worse than none. BabyBackup watches itself, and each of these sounds a repeating alarm and sends a notification until you acknowledge it.
- Crying
- The baby’s device heard crying.
- Connection lost
- You see “Reconnecting” within seconds and get a notification. If it stays down, the alarm sounds.
- Microphone stopped
- The baby’s device is connected but no longer hearing the room.
- Sound stopped
- The connection looks fine but you aren’t hearing anything.
- Low battery
- The baby’s device is running low and isn’t charging.
It reconnects by itself.
If the connection drops, BabyBackup keeps trying until it’s back, with nothing for you to tap. When it returns, the alarm stops.
A backup, not a replacement. BabyBackup is a convenience tool. It is not a medical or safety device. Crying detection can miss a cry or alert when there is none. Keep checking on your child in person.
Your baby’s sound stays in your home.
Private
- Sound and video travel directly between your paired devices. They don’t pass through our servers, and we have no servers that could receive them.
- We don’t record, store or listen to anything. Sound and video are played live and discarded. The only thing saved is a photo you choose to take, and it goes to your own Photos library.
- There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. We collect no data about you or your child.
- The microphone and camera are used only while you are monitoring. The baby’s device always shows when the camera is on and how many people are watching.
Secure
- Everything between your devices is encrypted with a private key that only your paired devices hold. We never see it.
- Only devices you pair can connect. Pairing needs the code shown on the baby’s device, or an invitation you send.
- Up to four devices can listen at once.
- “Create a new code” on the baby’s device removes every paired device at once. Paired devices stay paired until you do this.

Terms of Use
Effective October 3, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Point Rider LLC (“we,” “us”) about your use of the BabyBackup app. By using the app you agree to them. If you don’t agree, don’t use the app.
Who can use BabyBackup
BabyBackup is for parents and caregivers aged 18 or older.
A backup, not a safety device
BabyBackup is a convenience tool for when you need a spare monitor. It is not a medical device or a safety device, and it does not replace being with your child. It does not monitor breathing, heart rate or health, and it cannot prevent or detect SIDS or any other danger.
Never rely on it alone
Sound, video and alerts can fail or be delayed. Causes include a low battery, a weak Wi-Fi signal, a phone call, a muted volume, a closed app and software problems. Crying detection can miss a cry and can alert when there is none. Keep checking on your child in person.
Your responsibilities
- Keep both devices charged and the app open, with the volume up and notifications allowed.
- Keep the baby’s device and its charging cable out of your child’s reach, and never in the crib.
- Keep your pairing code private, and create a new code if a device is lost or shared.
- Use the app only where you’re permitted to, and never to listen to or watch anyone without their knowledge. Follow all applicable laws.
License
We grant you a personal, non-transferable license to use BabyBackup on Apple devices you own or control, under Apple’s usage rules. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer or resell the app, except where the law allows it.
Privacy
How the app handles information is described in the Privacy Policy below.
No warranty
BabyBackup is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted or error-free operation.
Limit of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Point Rider LLC and its owners, employees and contractors are not liable for any injury, loss, damage or death, or for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, arising from your use of or inability to use the app. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the app. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
Changes
We may update these terms. If we make a material change, the app asks you to agree again. The date above shows the latest version.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Privacy Policy
Effective October 4, 2026
In short: BabyBackup does not collect, store or share your personal information. It has no accounts, no analytics and no advertising, and sound and video never reach us.
What stays on your devices
- The pairing key, stored securely on each paired device.
- Your choice of role, and a record that you accepted the Terms of Use.
None of this is sent to us.
Sound and video
When you monitor, sound (and video, if you turn it on) is streamed directly from the baby’s device to your paired devices, encrypted. It is not recorded, saved or sent to any server, and it is discarded as it plays. If you tap the photo button while watching, that one still is saved to your own Photos library on your device. It is never sent to us.
Permissions the app asks for
- Microphone: to hear the room, and to carry your voice when you hold the talk button.
- Camera: to scan the pairing code, and to show video when you turn it on.
- Photos (add only): to save a photo when you tap the photo button. BabyBackup can add to your library but can’t see it.
- Local Network: so your two devices can find and connect to each other.
- Notifications: to alert you to crying and to problems with the connection.
Third parties
BabyBackup contains no third-party code that collects data. Your purchase is handled by Apple under Apple’s own policies.
Children
BabyBackup is used by adults. We don’t collect information from anyone, including children. Sound and video of children stay between your own devices and never reach us.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above and, for material changes, tell you in the app.

Help.
Write to us at [email protected] and we’ll answer. These fix most problems.
The two devices won’t connect
Check that BabyBackup is open on both, and that both are on the same Wi-Fi. Allow “Local Network” when asked (Settings, then BabyBackup). If you scanned a code earlier, scan again after using “Create a new code.”
I can’t scan the code
On the baby’s device tap “Pair a device,” then “Try a different way.” Enter the number it shows on your device within two minutes.
I hear nothing
Turn your volume up. BabyBackup plays through the media volume. Make sure the baby’s device shows “Parent connected” and that the green light on yours says LIVE.
Video won’t start
Video needs both devices on the same home Wi-Fi. Allow the camera on the baby’s device when asked.
The battery percentage looks slightly off
iOS gives apps only an approximate battery level, so BabyBackup shows it as “about.” It may differ from the device by a couple of points.
I got an alarm I don’t understand
The alarm names the problem. “Can’t reach baby’s device” means the connection dropped, so move closer and check the app is open there. “Baby’s microphone stopped” means open the app on the baby’s device. Tap Acknowledge to silence an alarm.
A fifth person wants to listen
Up to four devices can listen at once. Stop listening on one of them first, or create a new code on the baby’s device to start over.
